rush slip ons
I just got done installing a pair of rush slip ons on my 09 street glide. They came off an 07 street glide and everyone said they would fit.The mounts are an half an inch off when i was installing them,is this normal???? One sits back 4 inches from the end and the other 4.5.Is one muffler supposed to go on one side or what???

Ya know, I thought it was me but my Rush 2" are off about the same. Didn't notice till they were installed.
What it appears to be is that the mount you're hanging the pipes from can slide forward or back; one is off just a little. That's the way it was after I evaluated it.
Take your bags off and check/measure the locations of the hanger mounts where the 2 screws go. Most likely, one or the other has slid forward or back, creating that 1/2" disparity.
Give it a try and let me know. PM me if you want with your results.

I don't understand what you mean by "one sits back 4 inches from the end and the other 4.5," but I assume the problem is that one is positioned about ½" further back than the other. If you installed them and rode the bike before noticing this problem the muffler may have slowly slid backwards like my right muffler has done since I purchased the set. Try a new clamp, as HD claims their clamps are good for one installation, then become less effective or ineffective. Even when I changed clamps my right muffler still walked back, eventually until it hit the rear-most hanger position and couldn't go back any further. By that time it was quite loose and leaking. I later installed a second rubber grommet in front of the original, which prevents the muffler from moving back. I can give a better description and a photo if anyone is interested.
