Default Help: Need new Seat advice

I am looking to replace my old pillow seat and am looking for some advice. My Pillow seat has 45K on it and the cushion is long gone. I am leaning towards the Mustang Ultra Touring seat (One peice). Is any one running the two peice seat they offer? I spoke with Mustang and they sugg. the two peice since I am tall and it would move me back. Problem is I then have to buy their backrest and I just installed a Harley rider backrest about six months ago. Is anyone running the tall boy seat from harley? If so your feedback would be great. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

!st,,, I before E. except after Y..ex- "piece"

2nd.. The Mustang 2 piece does not really put you back that far.. I have one and am 6' tall.. Still almost riding on the tank.. Watch your handlebars if you move your seat back as you might end up leaning forward more to reach your bars.. I think the sundowner probably would work best for your application.. Good luck..

Mustang will send you a seat and give you 10 days to see how you like it. Give them a call and get a return authorization number and send it back if you don't like it. They understand not all butts are the same.

The local Harley shop let me take out a Sundowner to the parking lot and put on my bike. Couldn't take it for a ride but could at least sit on it.

You can always sell your Harley back rest right here on HDF, or you could buy yourself a seat on here.

I'm 6"3 with very long legs and weigh 270. I've tried a bunch of different seats on various bikes, including the Tallboy I now have on my 09 Ultra. Position wise, it is great. On a regular seat, I get hip discomfort after 3-4 hours because my knees are so much higher than my butt.

The Tallboy takes care of that, and I have no problem with the bars. The seat itself however is only confortable for about 200 miles and then I start to get some serious butt burn. There's a local guy here who installs gel pads, and that helped some but I still want a better seat. I am seriously thinking about getting a Russell Day Long seat custom made. I'm looking for a seat that I can put back to back 500 mile days on and still be comfortable.

anyhow, don't rule out a sundowner or having Mean City redo your seat.

Tryin' to get back on track here....

I suspect that the '02s might be a bit different than my more recent applications, but I have had the Mustang solo with separate passenger seat on my '07 Road King and it to be of very high quality and comfortable for touring. I can't remember whether it moved me forward, backward, or the same as the stock seat.

On my '08 Road Glide, I have the Mustang Regal one-piece and like it a lot. Again, very high quality and comfortable. I had stock seat from an Ultra on it before, and to tell the truth, I found the Ultra seat to be more comfortable than the Mustang (blasphemy!). The Mustang beats the Ultra in quality, but the Ultra just seems more comfortable for me (5'11" - 250lbs). I'm considering going back to it and selling the Mustang. The Mustang and Ultra each moved me forward relative to the stock Road Glide seat, and are a half inch taller or so.

Here are a few pics of each:

Thanks for the info. Went the dealer today and they let me take a Sundowner out to the parking lot. After a few minutes I was sold. I can check this off the list before the ride to Daytona.

2002EGlide - My 07 FLHX seat @meancitycycle this week for a little makeover. For a couple of bucks worth the try. The only negative NY area will be in the mid 60's tomorrow.
