Has anyone run the Gold wing size tire on the back of a HD touring bike, I am looking at the
Elite 3 Dunlop 160/80HB16 has a great weight carrying capacity. but will it fit. these are on sale for 138. good price
that price is from Wheel Works in LA, they are vulcanizing a set of wire wheels for me to run tubeless

You might want to go to Dunlops web site. You can compare the Elite 3 size in inches, width and height, with your stock tire.

I have the same question. I'm pretty sure it will fit though. The stock tire is like 5.51 inches wide. The 160 you are looking at is 6.15 inches wide. Thats not a whole lot really.

There is a man that has tire shop in Pasadena Tx. area that is putting them on Harley's without any mods. I'm running E3 now and going look into the 160 when time to change tires.

Soos installed the 160 tire on his '05 Ultra and didn't report any fitment issues. I asked him about his rim size and whether or not he had to do any modification, like trimming or removing his belt guard. The thread is here.

Keep in mind the 160 tire requires a 3.50" rim, and most HD stock rims are 3.00". The .3" taller dimension wouldn't concern me too much, but I'm not sure about .53" wider, which is ¼" wider on each side. I'm not sure about clearance, especially on the left side. I would never modify the belt guard if that is required.
