Default 09 SE Road Glide rear fender facia

Anyone know if the fender facia from a 09 SE Road Glide will fit the 09 FLHX rear fender? With the clean look of the SE RG rear, is the fender any different, other than no holes, than the 09 FLHX's ?

This is a photo of a SE RG rear.....

I asked this same question last week and got no response. I don't think anyone has tried yet. I would imagine the fenders are the same, but I was wondering if Harley sells the facia without the fender. I sure like the looks.

Beary,

I actually have a 08 SG. I have placed the same Dunlop 180/55-18 tire from the RG onto my 08. I am at the point of do I order a 09 SE RG or 09 FLHX rear fender and facia. I had thought, this may be too easy....and can't believe no ones tried this on a 09 yet. Then again most wan't the bolt on and done mode.

I cant see why it would'nt fit. The frame underneath is the same. Be prepared to drop some big bucks for it. Check out Arlen Ness. They make a rear fender that is very similar and fits right over your existing fender.

Timberland, I believe the dimensions of the 08 and 09 fenders are different due to the upgrade on the frame. In addition, I believe Moco does not sell SE parts to the general public, you have to prove you have a SE.

I do agree that putting that fascia would look sick on any 09.

Dawg..you the man....I sent you a pm too.

As far as the ness fender cover...I can't....more to the story. My bike is a 08 and already have the 180 on it..see photo above. I had a Metzeler 180 on a 16 " wheel from my BIL, I widenend the fender by shortening the fender spacers. The Metzeler fit but....I had to have the Dunlop 180/55-18 ...bummer is, its about 1/4" wider so it does not fit all the way up into the modified 08 SG fender. It will...eventualy. LOL

I will be at my local dealer tomorrow to see if anyone can tell me if the contour is the same as a 09 FLHX.

IF the 09 SE RG is the same width as the 09 FLHX, it will work. I have already measured the 09 FLHX fender its 1" wider than the 08 frame. Thats a easy fix, cut the fender down on each side and re weld at the seat mounting point forward. I am up for the challenge, just need a little more detail as to what to order...09 FLHX fender or 09 SE RG fender. I would ONLY order the RG fender if I can also buy the RG facia and lights. The MoCo can be difficult at times to buy things from...pretty protective of their SE stuff. SE RG Seat and handle bar grips were obtainable...soooo here's hope.

Before I get to the dealer today to find out they don't have the SE RG anymore, anyone here have one that can measure the width of their fender for me? Then measure the width of the facia...outside to outside dimension. If my dealer has the SE RG, I'll measure and edit my post to my findings. POST EDIT............................

They still have it....and they are still working on figuring out a way to remove dirt that is in the paint from the MoCo....nice look on a $30K bike...NOT.

Anyway, got what I needed. The fender is the same as any FLH, ie Road Glide, Street Glide etc as far as width, 9". The facia outside to outside dimensions at the widest point are the same on the SERG AND FLHX. 16".

My dealer says the SERG fender is availble and for the same price as the FLHX fender, $238 list, primed. The SERG facia....$260 ish,( YIKES! ) and its back ordered til 09 sometime. The right or left light assembly to mount into the facia are close to $200 each. Better part of $700 for the SERG look. Orrrrrrr, you can buy a FLHX 09 facia for $56 list primed.

I am waiting until the MoCo comes back to work on Jan 5, 09. Then they can tell my dealer how long this back order is going to be before I order.
