In 1972, I rode a '72 XLCH up Pikes Peak (in the snow for the last couple miles) and had no problems. I did have to stop and let the brakes cool a couple times on the way down. the brakes on the old Sportsters weren't the best.

Tkx for the PP confidence guys. Don't know if I can walk this heavy bike uphill though . From what you say though I likely won't need to. I owned the Kawi '77 LTD. I've owned several motorcycles, loved only two. The LTD and the HD I'm now riding. God I love this forum!

The MGB died and just as it did and I crested, neutral gear allowed me to coast into a painted parking stall . Later, it did start. I don't remember it being unreasonably cold. Been a looong time though.

The 4000m July trip is this (50% back roads): Memphis to Shell **** MO for 3day fishing & Bass Pro in Springfield MO. To Omaha NE (no stops), Oacoma SD (Badlands & other stops), Sturgis. Sturgis to Denver riding with my bro and his wife (they live there). To Pueblo with a stop at 14k ft. Then to Telluride CO (with stops), then Page AZ (wish stops). 3 days in Page. To Grand Canyon & Phoenix to see an old friend. Headed home, Gallup, Tucumcari NM, Ok City, Clarksville AR and Memphis.

Several stops such as Four Corners, 1880s Town etc. So much relax it'll take at least 3wk, likely longer. If it weren't for Sturgis dates I'd do this more like in May (cooler).

Merry Christmas!!

The olady and I drove a PT Cruiser rent a ride up there and had a blast. There were 2 bikers I met at the bottom before we headed up, one was on a fully loaded Ultra and the other was a SG.

They both made it but snowed like a bear about 5 miles from the top, was like a whiteout.....

That is one great place to see, Im a city kid so I was in awe............

Have a great time.

I met quite a few bikers in Colorado Springs great people..................

Your bike won't be an issue, the weather is though.
The highway is only 50 percent paved (still).
I've never went up (and I live here) on the bike just (been on a car) cuz I don't like all the gravel dinging my bike.
But, the REALLY beautiful country is west on the continental divide!

As long as you don't lose it on the curves or drop 5,000' down the east face, or get hit by an RV from Kansas, you should be OK.

I rode up it last year with my 06 Ultra loaded 2 up in a light cold rain with no problems. Traffic got slow up toward the top. With the altitude loss of power effect and traffic, it got to be like work with the wet gravel and corners. I probably will never ride up PP again, but the 2000 miles of touring in Colorado was awesome...............

Rode my '08 Ultra up in June and had no problem. It ran just fine. I was with a group that included an '07 Road Glide, an '08 Street Glide, and a 2003 Dyna Low Rider, all had no problems going up or coming down. So enjoy the ride.
