Need HELP! thinking of trading if I can't fix it
I am at my last wit with my bike. I am having trouble with the way my bike handles on the interstate. My bike is very sensitve to the slightest wind or passing of a vehicle. The best way to explain it is the front end feels light, like the fairing is catching the wind and making the bike wobble. Kinda feels like pulling a trailer with a truck and it has to much tongue weight, kinda floating. The bike handles great in the twisties and under 65 mph. I have checked everything that has been recommended, ie; new tires, shorter windshield, rear stabilizer, air in shocks, checked neck bearings and fall away, front and rear alignment. The only thing I haven't checked is the fork oil level. I have the stock electra glide wheels. I know the fairing catches a lot of wind but i have rode others that are not as bad. Anything anyone sees I might have missed please help. Thanks and happy holidays.

Yes I can let go of the bars and ride steady, no wobble or pulling to one side. All of the services have been recommened or done by dealer. Replaced rear tire @10000 miles and front @ 15000 and aligned. Checked the neck bearings and everything else myself according to service manual specs. Like I said the bike handles great @ speeds under 65, over that and the front ends feels light, I even put my stock seat back on and tried that because it moves me further forward and thought it might put more weight on front. I put different handlebars on to bring my reach closer but the wider bars made the situation much worse. Had to go back to stock.

Sounds like a good one! Ive worked on bikes for years and dont have anything that I can think off that you havent already stated. For it to handle great at low speeds, but not at high would be unique to say the least. One avenue would be to consult with your dealership and should you not get any results to your liking ask to have a regional service manager contact you about the issue. I would look at the steering bearings again. This time with the clutch cable removed. Other than that, good luck.

My 07 Ultra did the exact same thing. It almost felt like the front wheel was not gripping the pavement. Hard to explain. It was fine up to about 70.
I traded up to an 09, and don't notice it at all with the new bike. But I know plenty of other guys who cruise at 80+ on the older models with no problem.

I was thinking the same thing on the neck bearings, that is the only logical problem. I bought the bike used, had 1000 miles on it and really did not get on the interstate for a while, but it has done it since I've had it. I am running 36 in front and 40 in rear with 12 psi in shocks. It really is hard to explain to someone who hasn't felt it they all say im grimpping to hard or oversteering, that is until they ride it. I'm just glad to know it's not all the batwingers that do this cause I love this bike.
