Default HQ107ST build for GliderXXX

Ok, let's see if I can remember how to do this....

On Wednesday evening (9:00PM), in the thick fog, Kevin rode his bike over to drop it off.

I got started with some basic disassembly, but it was late so I did not get too far:

Nice start Phil, why is Kevin dresed like a Ninja? Please do some close ups of the cams heads and piston mounting when you get to that part. Thanks in advance.

Default Day Two (night, actually)

Thursday evening, after work, I was able to get a little more done. Kevin came back to help & "check it out".

Off with the heads:

Open the cam chest:

Oil pump out and rear inner cam bearing out. We replaced the cheap-o INA inner cam bearings with Torrington/Timken B168's

We left the stock jugs & pistons on (above) so we could swap the cams and then alighn the oil pump by snugging the oil pump to the camplate while manually rotating the rear wheel w/ tranny in 6th gear. In this pic, you can see the camplate is back on and the weeping oil shows that the pump was "pumping" during the alignment process:

Here the outer gears are back in and installed:

That was it for night two ~ Thursday. I want somewhat out of order in my "normal" process because I wanted to take advantage of having Kevin over because the oil pump alighment takes two people.

Default Day Three - Friday

Day Three ~ Friday

With the camchest zipped up, it was time to start getting the pistons ready. Gapping rings & measuring in the jugs. I prefer setting them up on the tight side of of the spec:

With the rings gapped, it's time to install the pistons & then the jugs:

One jug & head on and then both:

Whoops... forgot these.
Add 1/2 qt of oil to camchest so oil pump has oil immediately:

New BlackOps lifters installed:

Starting to get things buttoned up:

VPC installed:

so.... @ 11:45PM, the bike was back to life ~ make'n noise & I went to bed.

Default Saturday ~ DONE!

Almost done now!

Clenaed the bike up Saturday morning & went out to seat the rings:

Kevin came over and this is one the way to the dyno shop... I think he was happy by this time.

At The Dyno Difference, on the dyno:

Dr. Ed, doing his thing:

Kevin, after his first test ride:

And finally... "the sheet":

Thanks for the write-up and pics, Phil.

The grin on Kevin's post-tune ride says it all!!!

Well done.

Phil,
What about that "working" vacation here to Knoxville in the Spring/Summer?
Build a 120"
Aren't you enticed in the slightest?
