Motorcyclist trying to beat train hit crossing arm
TAMPA -- A 36-year-old Tampa man is in critical condition after deputies say he rode his motorcycle into a descending railroad crossing arm.

Anthony J. Lonero was not wearing a helmet when he rode across the tracks at Waters Avenue and Woodland Corporate Boulevard just before 9 a.m. today, trying to beat an oncoming train.

Hillsborough Sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway said Lonero avoided the train. But his face hit the crossing arm, throwing him from the 2008 Ducati and sending his motorcycle skidding across the pavement.

After the accident, the train passed on through, Callaway said.

Lonero, of 406 S. Melville Avenue, Apt. 4, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. CSX officials replaced the broken crossing arm.

Absolutely must be aware of what's going on around you. Hard thing for me to learn was to be patient out there.

Exactly not a smart thing to do. Always be on the look-out and be patient in order to survive. If not, This will be messy when it comes to accidents.
