I found that riding long distance anyway ear plugs are great at keeping the stress level down and you still hear the deep rumble of your bike.....So I have the best of both worlds I use these cool earphones that STICK in you ear so they dont blow out and listen to my ipod that clips to my vest or where ever. That way I have the music that I LIKE and no noise. If you have ever listen to music with earphones then you know what I'm talking about the sound and clearity is outstanding!
Portable music players seldom have built-in speakers anymore and they all come with some sort of things you stick in your ear. To try to get some really good ones that sounded and felt good to wear, I bought some from Shure that cost me over $100 (earbuds alone). I can't stand them either.
If I can't use my speakers, I won't even bother with the music system.

Okay I have the Hawg Wired 150 watt ampand speakers and my speakers are fine and loud up to 60 mph, anything around 70 the systems suck. It's the extra wind noise, I know. A bigger (wider) windshield is all that helps.

Glad you've found a listening solution you like, but not everyone likes having things stuck in their ears - I happen to be one of them.

I agree fully.
