I have an 07 FLHT (Standard)

I have no clue what/why you would need to upgrade the stereo or speakers. I told my dealer to upgrade my speakers when I ordered the radio. He recommended leaving it stock and I am glad. I guess I am offically old now, but I think the system sounds great, very clear and crisp.

Are there better, I am sure, but we are riding down the road sitting on top of a vibrating motor at 40+ miles an hour with wind blasting....theres going to be back ground noise and some distortion anyway, no????

I mean, how much louder do you need it?

Just my two cents. I said, JUST MY TWO CENTS.

Your experience with J&M speakers is the same as mine. Distortion. So I switched to HogTunes and love the result. (But of course, I'll get flamed by the mfr. of the aforesaid J&M's for saying that....)

Read a post on here a while back by a guy who said to turn the bass all the way down & the treble all the way up. It does seem to be louder goin down the road.

SOB.....it was worth getting up today, I learned something ! Thanks man, I've been dissatisfied with the sound on this scooter from day one....put in Hog Tunes speakers and that helped, but sometimes still not loud enough when I used the XM roady which is most of the time. Just switched the AVC up to 4, and can't believe the difference. Didn't even know it was there.....hate to read them damned books and instructions. Just wanted to say thanks.

Be careful if you come to California. Driving anything while wearing 2 earphones or plugs is illegal here.[/QUOTE]

Yea but thats mostly a law for cars with people going down the road with earphones on.
Motorcyles are known to have communication device's such as the ultra and most Goldwings. I never had a cop even look at me when I had my goldwing or this bike.
And to answer the comment by someone else that I can't hear horns, tires sqealing, sirens couldn't be further from the truth.
It works for me and I mostly do this when traveling anyway.
Just wanted to clear up the leagality issure and the can't hear anything else issue.
Don't come back and crusify me now. ha
