It's probably too late when it comes to salt!

Wash it, blow it dry, dry with rags, wax it, shine the chrome, you'll be fine.

Wash it, bring it in ,dry with towels then blower . Better than leaving the salt on it!

Again, you have to get the salt off! It can really do some damage quickly. Put a heater in the garage and wash and blow dry it in there. Chrome for sure does not like salt at all!

I live on the coast and I'm always concerned with the salt factor. I found something that has been really effective for me. It's called ACF-50. After I wash the bike I apply this stuff to all metal surfaces. Before the next ride, I simply wipe it down real quick and I'm good to go. The container says, "Prevents and deactivates corrosion on metal surfaces. Actively displaces salt or fresh water." It's made for the aircraft industry.

I bought the gallon jug. Yeah, I know...it's kinda spendy, but a little bit goes a LONG way. I can't recommend this stuff enough. When you consider the cost of replacing a piece of chrome or pitted aluminum, it's not THAT expensive.
