My buddies 800cc Kawi Vulcan had better top end than my 07 Classic..Both are bone stock. But...I could easily smoke him from 0 to 80 or so, no contest.

 

Back in the day Sporty,s were far from "girls" bikes. They were the fastest thing you could buy. Mean and nasty and NO stock Big Twin (or most modified) could stay with one. Most of that is still true today. They can be a fun ride as a second bike and now with the rubber motors they make Dyna,s obsolete and slow. Long live the Sportster and too bad HD neglected them for so long.
