Here's what worked for mine and several others I did for friends recently.

Remove factory trim ring and toss in trash.....Then haul trash to dump cause you will never need it again

Once factory trim ring is off, take visegrips and bend headlight mounting flange outwards in 5-6 locations....don't fret, it ain't gonna hurt it.....

After that, simply install new HD visor ring and tighten screw....No gaps, no rattle, just a nice clean install....I even had to show my dealer service rep how easy it was.....10-15 minutes and it's a done deal.

On the turn signal visors, do NOT follow the instructions where they insist you loosen lens and install thin o ring gasket...simply install new ring and let the sharp inner lip grip the groove on the lens curcumference....tighten screw and its done.... also with no gap.

Still working on my visor setup.. the passing lamp visors want on with no problem and look great.. When I put the visor on the headlamp I did it like the instructions said. No gap on the bottom, but I had the same issue that Rattle Can had.. it was tight on the left side but there was a big gap between the head lamp and the ring on the right. I took it off 3 or 4 times and in the process pretty much stripped the screw on the bottom. Then I read this thread and sure enough, just as Rattle Can saw, my headlamp was the issue, it was crooked. So I straightened it out and put everything back together and now there is no gap on thew right side.. but now of course I have the gap on the bottom because I can't screw the screw all the way in on the bottom! ARRGG!! Plus it's not tight at all and I can pretty much just pull the whole ring off from the top!! I'm going to hit a hardware store as soon as I can and try to find a new screw that will work. I will say that it looks as good as I thought it would.. really makes the front end look sweet. BTW I have a 09 FLSTC and I had the chrome front package and Nacelle installed.

I agree 100%! I wanted to launch mine across the garage floor oh... 1000 times. I did a search one night and saw a thread about the above post and let me tell you what. It works really nice. No gap!

I had the same problem. The driving light trim rings went on in 10 minutes with NO gaps. The headlight ring is junk. I tried for 2 days and still had gaps. I took it back and got refund. Now I like the look of the trim rings on the driving lights only. None on the turn signals or the head light, so the LOOK is balanced. Yeah,
I like the look. Different and I like the look more each day......hdman

Try putting it on as tight as you can get it. Ride for a few days and retighten. Repeat. I have had the dreaded trim ring on 2 different bikes and it worked for me. It seems to settle in or stretch a little. If I remember correctly there is a rubber piece inside the ring - maybe that compresses enough over time.
