I agree with Kielbaso , the stock setup is really pretty good.
I like the look and the sound just fine.

I like mine just the way it is. And with all the threads on people getting ticketed for loud pipes, why would I want to change them?

I think those 49 state headers are going to get expensive on eBay...

The Screaming Eagle guys will want them, plus a lot of us poor souls who live here in Cali...

When I get my FLH early next year, I'm getting some 49 state headers, and probably fuelmoto slip-ons. Stealthy looks for sure. No way to tell they're not legal when it's not running.

I dont like loud pipes, but I think the stock pipes on my 09 Ultra sounds like a VW. My Rush slip ons will arrive Monday...

Is there much/any sound difference between the '08 and '09? I have an '09 Ultra stored away waiting for spring and I'm heading out shortly to snowblow the driveway. So I can't very well tell for myself. That will have to wait until April if I'm lucky. What's important to me is to be able to hear the engine while riding. I can't stand no feedback but the tach. I was happy with the short time I had on the '08. Judging from the comments I will also be happy with the '09.

I have a 09 and was thinking of slipping on a set of Bubs. Do you think I need to do some intake work with that?

Any mod, mufflers, a/c or both will make a lean bike run even leaner. The bike is already leaned out so unless you plan to also do a mod to the EFI, then you are risking to make the bike run hotter. But the EFI mod could void your warranty, so consider all with great care before you do any. Not to open up a whole new debate, but just to answer your question.

I bought a pair of Jackpots, and I installed them last night.

I had ordered these like the day after I bought the bike.

In the mean time.... after 3k miles the stock mufflers have ended up sounding OK. Not great, but OK. I worry the the slip-ons are going to be too much noise.

We shall see if a dry day arrives in Ohio anytime soon.

One thought... I never realized how large the stock units were until I installed the slip-ons. The slip-ons look small!

Like the stock pipes just fine. Sound nice and throaty when I need them to and cool, calm and collected when I'm just moseying down the expressway. Damn I can listen to the music through the speakers on the highway and not have to wear that damn fullface.
