What do you that are fortunate enough to have an '09 think?

Much better than previous years, I am thinking they are almost perfect.
Yep, I have an 09, the stock pipes suck, only good for use as boat anchors!

I have a 09 Street Glide, and think the stock exhaust really sounds quite good for a stock exhaust, but I still need more sound. I am going with the Rinehart power package from Fuel Moto. Love that rinehart sound..........

I started out with the stock cans HD puts on its Japan-market bikes. Whisper quiet, literally half the volume of the US stock cans, which I soon proceeded to pick up for $70 on Ebay.

(Note to the guy who wants to use his stock cans as boat anchors. Put them on Ebay instead and offer to ship to Japan, you'll make good money!!)

So I'm pretty happy with my US stock cans. Like the OP said, stealthy around town, but a nice bark when you chop the throttle. Still, wouldn't mind a little more rumble and a bit more power, but as it's a fine line between nice and annoying on longer rides I'm waiting to hear more reports as the '09 aftermarket cans come out.

I agree with you and I think the 09 Mufflers are perfect!

I had it in my head that I had to change the mufflers, so I tried a set of Monster Ovals which didn't stay on the bike long. (I'm not here to discuss the MOs.)

I decided to switch back to the stock cans and quickly realized how much I really liked them, which as you said are relatvely mild but do get nicely throaty when getting on the throttle. Perfect for a touring bike, Perfect for listening to the stereo (which I do almost constantly), Perfect for keeping the noise to a tolerable neighbor friendly level, and Perfect for keeping your bike street legal too.

I think that Harley Davidson did an excellent job with the 2009 Mufflers as well as the Stereo, ABS and even the stock Seat too. I'm keeping my HD Stock Mufflers.

I'm interested in hearing your views on the MOs as they're on my list if I do decide to go with aftermarket pipes. What didn't you like about them? Shoot me a PM if you prefer.

My brother put a set of 49 state headers (gotta love ebay!) on his Cali 09RK and it does sound a bit different than my ultra. Definitely throatier yet still very easy to listen to while following. I'll be shopping for a set myself. I'm also looking for just a bit more...maybe the supertrapp se's with the new headers. tinker tinker

I recently bought a 09 SG and already had in mind of changing the exhaust. I do agree that the stock pipes sound much better than previous years. I decided to go with the Monster Ovals and couldn't be happier. Louder than stock but not obnoxious.

Stock mufflers sounded fine to me but I had to change them and put Supertrapp SE on not much louder than stock.
