Is there a type of tour pack that you don't have to have a rider backrest to use? I don't have the need for a rider backrest except for maybe attaching a tour pack to it. I don't want to spend the dough for all the mounting hardware etc. if I don't have to.

The only ones I've seen are the ones H-D makes for police bikes. You should still be able to buy one (without the emergency lights). Check Ebay for them. Also, you might find an old tour pak off an FLH that is smaller with no backrest. I see them there quite frequently. Just paint to match you bike. My buddy got one, painted it and put it on his RK; looks awesome...good luck.

Huh? You don't attach the tour pack to the rider (or passenger) backrest. If you have a cop RK, you could simply mount the tour pak to the rack on the back of the bike--just remove the black plate--and you have the same mounting tube/bracket (except for the nuts, bolts, etc.) that the EG Classic and Ultra use.

I'm sorry guys, I used the wrong terminology. I don't mean a tourpack, I meant lugage you attach to your backrest (or not). My bad.

If you got hard saddlebags you can get Lid Haulers from Ridetek that serves the purpose of protecting the tops of your bags plus comes with luggage rolls that attach to the protective covers. Then there is a whole slew of T-bag products you can get as well as other good companies that have the same sort of bags.
