I will be installing new bars,chrome switch housings, ect.. in next 2-3 weeks. I decided I might as well do the inner fairing too. Instead of buying a painted one I am going to have mine painted. Problem is I cant figure out which color would be better on a black pearl bike. Which one would look better, gloss black, or black pearl?

Dude, I'm the same way. I think contrasting colors look best. I painted my '08 inner fairing vivid black (to match my bike), I never fully liked it.

This time on my '09, which is vivid black, I was thinking a contrasting color but not sure which would look good.

I think the gloss black (vivid black) would look good on your black pearl bike. But, again...I like the look of contrasting colors.

I have a vivid black ultra and I just ordered a black pearl inner. I think the contrast will look better

 

I'm thinking of painting mine, too. Will match it if I do. Go with the pearl.

 

i have a black pearl rg and the same delimma. thinking that vivid black would really contrast the pearl. going with pearl on both may be too much imho.

 

PLEASE...take some good pictures of this when you get it done. I really want to see it!!!! But, I'll probably have to make a decision before you get it done...sending my inner fairing to paint next week. Freaking decisions!!! LOL

 

You can't go wrong with black pearl--a color-matched inner always looks better than the unpainted inner IMO.

However, SG's are a single color and you may get tired of looking at all that black pearl. Vivid black would look sharp with the chrome/white faced gauges. You can also use automotive colors which is what I did and had mine shot vivid black with very fine silver flake--IIRC, it was a Toyota color. In my case, my bike is birch white and I got tired of all the white--so the contrast worked well for me.
