Default Shape of 84-2004 Lower Fairing vs 2005-2008 Lower Fairing

Does anyone have a side by side comparrison either pictures or opinion on the "older" fairings vs. the newer fairings?

These would be for an 08 Street Glide. Is there a significant difference between the two?

The pair I'm looking at are the "older" (84-2004) vintage and have been retro-fitted with an adjustable air vent.

To sum it up, I don't want to have an appearance conflict with an older fairing on a newer bike. Is the difference really that significant?

Thanks!

I could be wrong (but doubt it) the older model had more of a square look to it vs the new model with the more aerodynamic look.

They have a major different fit to them. The older style ones fit but will not let the fron end turn lock to lock (09 street glide), the turnsigs hit the fairings, not major but the do touch. Didn't really notice it around town but when parking it was just kinda annoying. They also cover the foot area right down to the floorbaords. I kept catching my feet on them when going for the rear brake or getting my feet off the boards. That being said Ill sell you a set for 200 shipped. I took them off and bought some color matched takeoffs.

I had purchased a pair of older lowers on ebay when I had my '86 FLHTC and love them. Kept them when I got an '05 FLHTC. Last August, I got a '07 Ultra that came with the new lowers. IMO, the older ones are MUCH better.

The new ones taper at the bottom. This seems to make them a bit less effective at blocking rain & wind to my feet. When it is rainy & cold, I could tuck my feet into the old lowers. With the new ones, I feel like a fat man trying to hide behind a telephone pole.

The vents- I don't really see where the do a whole lot in hot weather. Where I see greater significance is that when it rains, water drips through the seam at the vent onto my feet. My feet stayed totally dry with the old lowers (as long as I could keep movin).
