Nothing stirs "controversy" on these HD Forums like:
A. - Oil Wars - AMSOIL fanatics vesus the rest of the OIL consuming world.
B. - Jack Wars - Those that use one of the various Sears Jacks versus all those who don't
C. - Batwing Wars - Out of jealousy for those of us on Shark Nosed Road Glides
(Sears yellow "Professional" MC Jack works good for me!)

I use one of the commercially available oil vacuums (JC Whitney sells one version) that suck the oil out through the dipstick hole. I leave a little warm oil in the pan to drain out the drain hole & remove sediment. You can use a much smaller drain pan that way & don't have to worry about raising the bike.

By putting 2" of styrofoam under both wheels allows
plenty of clearance to slide the oil catch pan under
the drain plug........
Its getting the filter off and out without making
a mess is a problem.........having tried the cut soda bottle
and aluminum foil shapped funnel / tunnel thing, I still
manage to hit / bump/ spill it........
But its all good cause I'm doing it and its my mess
to clean up
