Default overnight bag on pillion

I have an 08 RK standard and want to do some overnight or 2 day trips.Don't want a tour box or sissybar/backrest.I ride solo .I have been looking at the nylon overnight bag (94787-09) .It's 18 in w 10.5 in d and 12 in t.Has anyone ever put a bag like this on their passenger seat fastened down with bungies or the harley cargo net (18in x 18in.).The bag would have only light stuff in it leaving the saddlebags for anything heavier.Anybody have any ideas ? Thx for any help.

On longer trips I use a large bikersfriend barrel bag on the passenger pillion but always have the removable sissy bar to brace it on, and another bag on the luggage rack, makes a good backrest that way. I also strap a good size gym bag to the pillion back and forth from work sometimes, using straps with clips on the ends that don't stretch like bungees do, easy to tighten down and stay secure. As long as it's tight enough and you check it from time to time, you shouldn't have any problems. I always test ride gear before any trip just in case. That removable sissy bar and backrest do come in handy, solo or not.

I've used the Kury Grantour bag on my Standard. I attached it to my riders backrest and bungees.

I've used a large rafting waterproof duffel bag strapped down with rafting straps on my old Road King. They stay tight and don't flop around or break like bungees.
Also have used a square fabric cooler that Wallymart sells for $30.00 that looks a lot like a tour pack, again held down with rafting straps. Worked well on my Low Rider before and will now use it on the Buell.

Man that's a really good photo of your black bike there set in front of the snow with the glassy wet roadway underneath. Nice shot!

another vote on the bikers friends barrel bag. I use mine without a sissybar on the passenger pillion, and can still use it for a backrest for me, and never had a problem stays secure. Suprisingly how fast it comes on and off after you get the strips set. http://www.bikersfriend.com/pages/harleygallery.htm

I've been traveling that way for years. I use a $15 nylon duffle bag I got from Sonny's Surplus. Hold it on with 2 bungee nets, with a 3rd net over the top to hold jacket/whatever. If weather is wet, I either line the inside of the duffle with a lawn and leaf bag or wrap it around the outside.

Over the years, I have looked at T bags and such many times, but always come to the conclusion that my current setup works fine and doesn't need to be replaced.
