Default HID conversion

I am running a 6000K bulb with my HID system. The color is blue but slightly lighter than my paint. It is light is distinguishable from others at a distance.

A lot of people report that although these lights aid in better night vision they pretty much suck in the day time. I'm one of those guys. The bright white or blue lights can hardly been seen by others in traffic in normal day light. The typical orange lights can be seen better by others/cars and such...something to think about, thats all.

your pupils don't react to blue light. that's why blue appears to be brighter. we use blue cockpit lighting in army aircraft so pilots don't loose their night vision looking outside the cockpit after looking at the instrument panel.

Huge difference in pricing. I see the same bulb for $99 and for $49.95 on the two web sites at the top of the thread. Buyer: BEWARE.

I have tried blue and yellow lights on my 07 sg. They work for about an average of two months, then blow out! I got tired of replacing them , so I put the stock one back. I have been riding over a year now with no problems. If you do go to a differant h-4 bulb, make sure it's for power sport's use. Boat, snowmobile, motorcycle, as these are made to handle the extra vibration.

There's a mythology surrounding blue-tinted lights that needs to be publicized more. To avoid repetition, here's an article everyone should read:

Blue light FAQ

For many years I've always used 80/100w (most recently Hella brand) or 90/100w H4 bulbs, and never with a blue tint. The Hellas cost <$10, provide excellent output, and last for years. My present bulb has been in use for at least five years.

While you're at it, check out E-code headlights. There's a current thread relating to these on another forum.

E-code thread (Scroll down five from the top of this page to my message)
