Default Started negotiations on 09' RK... Thoughts?

RK standard in vivid black
MSRP: $16,995
Cruise: $270
Freight: $350
Setup: $475
Discount: $2,000 (after all the above has been added to MSRP)
Trade-in for my 07' FDX: $8,500 - 6,100 miles with newly added slip-ons, Stage I and SERT... Ouch!

I'm trying to get a $500 gift card and 20% off any accessories I may add at time of purchase (good luck with that huh?).

I appreciate any input.

I will check back with you guys tonight... big college football rivalries on the tube this afternoon.

Purchase price is great, but I'd sell your '07 private party.

Thoughts?
I like squirt cheese on Town House crackers.

Why does it always rain the day after I wash my truck?

Uh oh...I feel a movement comin'.

I wonder if my wife let the dog out?

I wish I had a new ZR-1 'Vette.

I think I'll fix some chili for lunch...

Ooh, and some grilled cheeses!

Where did the kids put the TV remote?

Seems like a pretty good deal to me on the surface. I say on the surface, because not sure about your financing. If the dealer is getting you the financing at a high interest rate it might only be an ok deal.

Money for your bike sounds reasonable but selling outright is always the way to go. 20% off at time of purchase sounds pretty standard for some dealers so that shouldn't be a big hurdle. The $500 gift card would be additional "gravy".

I am biased as I'm coming off a RK standard that I owned for 7 years and it was a great bike. The bags and windshield add a new dimension to the motorcycling experience. Do whatever you have to do to get the deal done.

Good Luck.

Assuming this is for a '09 RK, I'd say that was an okay deal. Selling your bike outright would make it better, but this time of the year that may be difficult. I'd definitely press for the gift card and depending on what's customary in your area you may get the parts discount.

Tony P, 9 months ago in the mid-atlantics, anything under MSRP was great, dealers then commonly sold for MSRP with a $500-600 dealer credit for parts/service. As the economy slows and we move into January prices will likely drop more. Good Luck.

Don't expect to get any of your money back from your newly added slip-ons, Stage I and SERT.
Sorry about that, but that's just the way it is.

Try and check with your local bank where your checking account is for financing too.
If you are okay credit wise they will be cheaper than the HD dealer will do for you.
My bank said they could run a new motorcycle through like a new car loan.
That was before the bank crash though. I haven't talked to them since.

Did you consider ABS, not for everybody, but most like it once tried...
