+1. Ride the Ultra.

I looked at the ultr classic's and even went as far as getting approved for it but didnt sign the papers...........I thought it felt alittle "top end" heavey for me, ....I'm only 5'9 155lbs. I will say I love my 09 Street glide and with the touring package I would have the look and storage. If I was to get another bike I would get the ultra classic...........Just might take awhile to get use to??

Default Not my beater, more like alternate purpose

This is for playing in the dirt... It is road legal but the 2009 Ultra is for the Road. The licence plate for this is just to get me to the trails, it's not too much fun on the highway but the Ultra is!

That's a great looking bike. Just ride it, wash it, ride it, wash it.... Is the problem that you don't like washing it? Key is to get a blow dryer. I've got the Master Blaster with 8 hp and it removes water perfectly with heated air, never a spot. Just cause you ride in the rain doesn't mean the bike has to be a beater. (If you do decide to get a drier go to the internet and search under "Pet Dryers") It's a lot cheaper than the Motorcycle driers.

****Gasp**** a Gold wing???? AAAAAAHhhhhhhh! Just kidd'n bro.

Take the UC out every day it's above freezing and not too frigging windy. Rain? Who cares?? Living on the coast of Washington you wouldn't ride too much if you waited for the sunny days! Have a pressure washer and a blow dryer so it's pretty easy to clean up. Dang, it's sunny today and I'm stuck in the office!!!

Default Just ride the ultra

I also live in Washington. I live in Everett and commute to Bellevue (30 miles) 4 days a week. I picked up an 08 Classic in Feb. So far I have ridden in the snow twice (it started snowing while I was at work) and the rain so often I can't count. The bike is Pacific Blue, but is currently a bluish gray from all the road grime on it. When we have a nice day on a weekend I wash it. Otherwise I just ride it. I figure clean bikes are for summer. I have added the lower fairings from an Ultra. They really help keep your boots dry when the roads are wet.

Nothing wrong with owning a "rat" bike. I thought about picking up a thrashed Honda VTX, removing all the bull****, take a spray can and paint it flat black. Wash it? Never!

What's wrong with riding in the rain? Just wash it more often.
