Default Just Traded SG for RKC

Ok. I did what many would think is crazy. Traded my 08' SG in on an 09' RKC. The SG was the best riding Harley I've had in 30 years. I just don't like the looks of a fairing bike. Most of my bikes have been panheads or pre-80" so I really like the nostalgic look.

So this what I'm starting with. I like the feel and handling for a SG over a stock RK so the fist line of business will be to change the ride. I'm lowering from and back 1" and starting with W0508 Wild 1's and a Signature Series Solo Seat. I'm hoping I get lucky with this combo.

I actually didn't take a beating for the trade-in. I will be returning the SG practically stock (with the exception of a SERT) and re-selling the add-ons I did (passing lamps, XM modulator, alarm, pegs, chrome, etc). They gave me almost 17k on SG and threw in a Stage I, profile wheels, and 1k/5k/10k services. I think they would have given me a hooker if I'd have asked. (I should have asked)

My question is, do you think lowering 1", different seat and bars will give me more of an "in the bike" feeling over the stock RK?

Let's see ,you traded the best riding bike you've ever had for one you'll have to spend money on to make it more rideable like you had.....? Yep, you're crazy!

Congrats on the exchange. Not sure about the lowering unless your not tall. I'm 5'11" and have no problem when stopped...both feet are flat on the road.

Again, contrats!

Crazy? Nope! But I'm biased. I did the profile lowering shocks, Mustang seat and RK Chrome high bars. Rides like a dream. Sorry you had to buy the SG, before you realized the RKC was better

Why do you think I bought black, other than it's the fastest color

Well Bobros, you're happy, and that's what counts. The beauty of the Road King, is that it presents so many options. I rode my for 8 years, and loved every minute of it, then I decided I wanted a Street Glide. Did the math, and it just didn't work with all I'd put into the King. So I just got a detachable Fairing, and away I go. Also got the tour pak for those long rides. Over the years I've noticed that my taste has changed in what I like/want to ride. I used to think the Sportster was the only way to go, then LowRider, Softie.... you see where I'm going. The great thing about your decision, is that IF your taste changes again, you don't have to get rid of the King. Just alter it. And make everything detachable, so that when you do feel like the wind in your hair and the bugs in your mouth, you can have it within 2-3 minutes. Good Luck, congrats, and ride safe...

I lowered the rear 1.5" in the rear, stock up front, 14" apes, and rk custom solo seat. Perfect set up for me!
