Default Cell Phone Charger

What ideas do you guys have for a cell phone 12 volt charger. My idea is to run a regular cigarette charger and hard wire the plug side to a pig tail off the battery and route the cable into the saddle bag and then plug the phone in while on a ride. I have an 07 RKC.

I think Harley makes one for the road king. Install the cigarette lighter from ahrley and plug your phone into that. Or if you are into doing things yourself for less liek me do just what you suggested. Should be fine.

I am sure options are limited, but some of you guys come up with good suggestions, so I thought I would I throw it out there. DIY idea should work well as you said.

Easy! Buy a new Road Glide and the cigar outlet lighter comes standard in the fairing!

I almost bought a Road Glide, then, just in the nick of time, the saleman showed me that the Electra Glide also came with a lighter - whew! That was too close for comfort.

The owners manual on the '09 RG says not to plug a charger into it 'cuz it'll damage the receptacle. I'm thinking that's a clever trick to get another couple $$ out of ya. (20K's a lot for a cigarette lighter!) Anybody had any problems??

If it does damage it, I'll simply replace it with another better receptacle. I have my GPS plugged in there now and don't see how it could be damaged. I mean, it comes with a cigarette lighter and the GPS draws a heck of a lot less current then heating a cigarette lighter will.

I'm still looking for the ashtray though...
