Default Street Glide rear fender light

Has anyone tried to put a Street Glide rear fender LED light on a Road Glide? I have a '06 Road Glide I am interested in putting one on.

I put one on my 07 RG. You have to drill 3 holes on each side of the fender.

You're welcome. Wish there was a "sticky" on this since it's a popular modification on Touring models. For example, your RG has the TP wiring harness on the bike that is used for TP lights. But the SG LED uses that connector for the LED. So, if you have or want to add a TP with lights, the wiring has to be changed slightly. Either a pigtail for the TP harness, or a different connector for the SG LED to plug into the tail light circuit board behind the tail light lens.

If you don't have a lighted TP or plan to add one, you can simply mount the facia (drill the fender or use the double-sided tape), install the LED and connect it to the TP harness.

There's at least one ebay seller offering kits; if you buy from HD, especially a 20% off list dealer (e.g. Zanotti's) you'll do much better cost-wise.

Good luck with our project. PM the RG guys who've done the mod

Yes - but the light and mounting hardware are extra! It's about $300 list to get all the parts. If they tell you ~$165, that's just the painted facia.

Where are you getting your information? I ask because I've done this mod and read here of others who have also. A painted SG facia is $99 list, primered is $56; and, the LED light with harness is $65 IIRC. The links in my earlier post provide part numbers to verify.

I stand corrected - when I did mine, it took three trips to the dealer and elbowing the parts person aside so I could see the exploded diagram myself. I went with the full treatment, including drilling the fender - which explains the difference. I had the service department spend an hour, figured for $79 I'd let them screw up the fender, so ~$210 for parts only would be correct. Just make sure you get ALL the pieces - they originally just got me the facia!
