Default HK Stereo Dimmer Problem

The backlight is dimmed just like when its night out. I recently installed a oil temp gauge, did I knock something loose or put a sensor in the wrong place? Anyone else had this problem?

The radio has a brightness control. Not saying you didn't check. Just a thought.

Where is the brightness control, I only saw the contrast. Also, I never needed to adjust before, it would do it automatically.
