first impression 1stgear Thermogear
My Firstgear Thermogear 1 pc riding suit came today, after I ordered it a week ago, shipping by UPS ground.
To begin with, I'm 65, 6ft, 190 lbs, and I don't do cold well at all.
I purchased this baed on comments on this forum and surfing the web.
All I can say is, WOW!!, wished I'd gotten it sooner.
Today it's 45F out, sunny and clear. Normally, I'd get into my military spun-glass thermal longies, put on jeans, a T-shirt, longsleeve shirt, sweatshirt, and leather jacket.
My legs above the thighs would get chilly, as would the rest of my old bod.
Based on others' recommendations, I put on jeans and a sweatshirt and headed out.
I got on I-85, headed north and went up to 75mph, per Mr. Zumo. Rode about 30 miles.
Warm as toast. Unbelievable!
Now, if it's waterproof as advertised, I'll be a very happy camper.
There are a few things I'd like to see improved, however. Access to jeans pockets is an acrobatic endeavor. No side zippers above thigh-level.
Would also like to see a bit more reflective piping for conspicuity.
Also, there are no pockets for adding armor protection.
But, as it's sold as a riding suit to keep you warm and dry, it does the job.
Would I recommend it? Highly!!
Would I purchase it again? You Bet!!
Sure wish I'd had this when the wife and I rode to the Grand Canyon last month, had a flat and had to go to Farmington, NM for a fix. 22F up there!! Riding in that temp was no joke.

Glad you found something that works for you. One problem I'm having with my non-heated First Gear riding suit is getting it into the exhaust on the lower right leg. Done that twice now. Sure wish they'd put some canvas or some such down the inside of that leg to protect it and my pipes. Did they happen to do that with the suit you have? And if you don't mind saying, about how much and where did you get it? Thanks and ride safe.
