Default Soldering tips

The clothes pin tool os a great idea. It is important to keep the wires from moving relative to each other as the solder cools or you can get a "cold joint" that has low conductance. You could also glue 2 small pieces of aluminum or copper to each clothes pin to act as a heat sink if the insulation is being discolored by the soldering iron.

If you put a small drop of silicone sealant on the joint after it cools and before sliding on the shrink tube, it will extrude out as the shrink tubing shrinks and form a prefect watertight joint. It can also add a little more abrasion resistance over the joint in a high vibration environment like an idling Harley.

Sorry about the double post. I thought the first one "went away" when I went back to the thread.

crash12888: Great Post. Perfect timing. I just took delivery of a set of Chubby Wild One 575's. They appear to be very similar in dimension to the HD pullbacks just a little pricier ($200) but for chrome vs stainless and the larger (1 1/4") cross section they appear to be in line. Looking forward to installing them.

Thanks again for the help.

Thanks Bertk, Hope I havent lead anyone down the wrong path yet. Gotta love this site.
Both ways will work. I just wanted to let others know the connectors come apart.

I Just went out and sat on my bike and can see the area where the fairing mirrors would be on the SG but cant say if vision would be blocked by arm or hands.
Those bars don't look like they would interfere with the SG mirrors at all. With the Khrome Werks +2 Sweepers Bars I installed, and with the amount of rotation on them, about 1/3 of the bottom of mirror is blocked by my hands. With such large mirrors I don't find it to be a problem. Here are some pics of the Sweeper bars installed.

Default Will these fit with ABS models?

Hello Crash

I enjoyed your post about installing the 56176-08 2" pullback bars. When I saw the product online, it doesn't say that they are incompatible with ABS equipped bikes. But when I went down to the local dealer, it said on the box and the '09 catalog that they are not compatible with ABS bikes. I am confused!!!

Is your bike equipped with ABS? Or has anyone tried fitting them to an ABS bike?

Thanks,
Quint
