2008 or 2009 EGC. Which to Buy???
I'm looking at a 2008 Electra Glide Classic in very good condition with about 7,000 miles on it. I'm also looking at a brand new 2009 Electra Glide Classic which has all the features of the 2008 EGC plus a few more.
In addition, the 2009 EGC has several design improvements which the 2008 does not have. You are probably more informed about these improvements than I am.
In your opinion, is the 2009 EGC worth $3,500 more than the 2008 model? I'm talking about "out the door" pricing. In other words, would YOU pay an extra $3,500 for the 2009 model (assuming you could afford either one without breaking the bank).
BTW, the 08 model has 14 months left on the factory warranty while the 09 has the full 24 months factory warranty.
Thanks.

Tough call there. I guess it all depends on if you can live with knowing your new scoot is already a year old, and , if you believe the changes in the '09's are an improvement, personally I do not but that has been hashed over enough on here. Good luck with your decision and happy riding.

I didn't realize that this subject had been discussed that much. After doing some searching, I found 2 or 3 similar discussions. Didn't realize that several people actually seem to dislike the 09's.
Oh well, that's life. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
I guess I'll do a little more thinking about the subject and try to decide if the 09 is worth $3,500 more. If not, then how much more?
Would appreciate anyone's thoughts on this. Not trying to start an argument.
Thanks.

When I started reading your post, I was thinking a new '08 would be worth about $3k less than a new '09 to me. Once I saw the '08 was used, it became no contest. I'd go with the '09 if it wasn't going to break the bank. That way I'd know how the miles were put on it, have 10 months more warranty, etc. And there is a certain amount of satisfaction in being the "original owner".

The 08/09 change is bigger than the 06/08 (6 speed 96") and 98/99 (Twincam). Hands down, the 09 is the platform of the present and future. Most that advise going with the 08 either missed the boat or are dealers trying to unload older bikes. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the 08s. Basically, it's the same platform since 1997. That's a lot of years with interchangeable parts and reliabilitiy.
