I traded an 07 Ultra for an 09, and I'm very happy with the decision, there really is a huge difference.

My advice would be to make sure whatever bike you get has ABS. I am absolutely convinced they are worth every penny and more.

That way I'd know how the miles were put on it, have 10 months more warranty, etc. And there is a certain amount of satisfaction in being the "original owner".
+1. I bought my '08 RKC new the same day the 09s came out and save $3k (and got a $500 gift card). The '08 described here is used AND has a shorter warranty. It would take more than $3500 for me not to consider the '09. If you buy new, you can choose the color and options that you want.

Well, today I settled the question of whether to buy an 08 or 09 Harley EGC by buying a............. 2005 EGC. It looks exactly like this one in the picture below, except we don't have any snow here in Florida.

Oh, one minor difference is that my new bike doesn't have the fairing lowers on the engine guards (crash bars). Other than that, it looks just the same....... including the same color. Maybe I could just steal his sig pic. (wink)

I had a new '07 UC with " all the problems that new models have" and I put 27k uneventful and enjoyable miles on it. I traded it in for an '09 SG and like the last "new" model, it's a perfect ride for me. I hope to get the same flawless service out of it as I did with the last machine. Is the '09 a better bike? The answer is simple. Yes.

I just bought the 2009 Ultra. I have an 02 RG and an 05 RK Classic. The Ultra Handles like a sports bike! The brakes and cluthc are awsome. The handling is amazing. The 2009 is so good that IMHO it will be hard to sell eariler touring models. I would definitely recommend the 2009!

It's interesting that you say that - I had to wait almost 3 months for my new Ultra simply because I insisted on the ABS. I'm a big believer in safety features, and even if I never have to use it, I'll feel more comfortable knowing it's there. I've read nothing but good things about Harley's ABS, so I'm surprised that more people aren't buying it.

Like the older Harley veterans, They prefer the carbs over the EFI. I'm the next generation here...Don't like Security and ABS on the new bikes. Just a tadbit modern technology in an older style technology bike. My '09 Ultra rocks !.
