Gutman, you have any pictures of the DFT's you have built? I would like to see them. Especially if their more customized other than just assembling their kit. you know,... personal touches.

Tell her to take the MSF Course, and by the time that she finishes that, she'll know how to ride 2 wheels and won't need 3. You'll be savin' some green.

The trike Im building. I'm planning on making my own seating. In turns the centrifugal force that one feels. Seems to make you feel that you'll fall off the dam thing. Im making a concave/bucket seating to help try and alleviate this. I have the DFT trike rear and I'm also planning on making it so that my trike set-up will in-fact lean into the turns. I know there's plenty out there that have been working on this idea. But I feel I got a pretty good solution. I'll reveal it after I look into a patent. If that cant be had. then I'll just make it for myself.

My wife did take a short ride on a trike at AZ bike week but not on the hwy. I believe it was a leman conversion.

The person that said it was gutless must have rode won with CA emmission. When I got my 07 softail it was also gutless and the guy who did the dyno said it was getting about 75% of the power due to CA emission. My 88 would run circle around it, so I went and put on V&H pipes, RT, AC and had it dyno and now it runs great. It gain 5.75 more HP and 15 more fp of torque.

Now back to the trike. Wonder why they did not go with independent suspension and air air shocks? One of the wrenches at harley dealer said he wasn't sure how the electric motor would hold up because it might get a lot of stuff in it from riding it in the rain and dirt roads. Not sure about how shielded it is. The 37K was including tax and license and with the color, reverse and other things on it, was MSRP.

I might just wait till next years model. Since this is the first year they built it, have to work out the bugs and get feed back from customer.

In CA is just takes the regular driver license to ride it.

I'd be sure and ride one, maybe try to rent one first. They don't steer as easy as a bike (i.e. they have to be actually steered).

My wife has back issues as well, we have a couple sidecar rigs so she can go with me.

Not suggesting a sidecar is a better way to go, just that you might really want to put a few miles on one before buying, even if its a non Harley model.

good luck

gutman, you are right, the lehman trike kit is big money... my dad has one on his Goldwing and he loves and I mean LOVES it. But is aint cheap! I think by the time he was done with tires and paint it was close to 15,000. So to get it from HD with all the paint and wheels you are actually cheaper that doing it yourself.
As far as the rake goes, it might have to be raked a little farther that the stock HD trike, I know my dad had to do some front end work to make it a lil easier to steer, although that thing screams... it will peel and chirp the rear tires, through almost every gear! Good luck with your choice...
