Good news, bad news
So, the bad news first. My wife stole my 07 Heritage. No, we didn't get a divorce or anything like that. She had been riding her new Nightster for a few months and wanted to ride my Heritage so I screwed up and let her. She like it so much better she took it. So, to get even, I took her Nightster and traded it for a used 03 Ultra. Does this mean I am officially an old fart?
I do have a couple question: 1) will the cd player place mp3 cd's? I don't have the owners manual yet, wasn't with the bike so dealer ordered me one. That is why I am asking the question here. 2) Cruise isn't working. I can get the dealer to fix it but I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't doing something wrong. Turn it on and press the button in? That simple, correct?
So far, great. Best part is that my soon-to-be 5-year old grand-daughter fits perfect behind me so, following a helmet fitting and a couple other pieces of gear, she was able to take her first big ride. She loved it and the smile on her face was worth every penny the bike cost. To hear her singing to the radio while behind me was priceless. She was getting tired of trips around the block because she couldn't quite reach the adjustable pegs. No highway riding for her yet but at least she can ride with me to get ice cream.

That sounds like a win win situation to me.
Question 1)
I don't have a clue on the 03s sorry
Question 2)
On my 08 you slide the cruise button to the right to enage. You do not push the button.
To resume speed you slide it to the left.
I hope that is all that is wrong with yours. You will love the cruise.

The throttle cable is a very common failure for cruise controls. Look for two wires that plug into the cable on right side of the frame in front of the gas tank. Disconnect the two wires and go for a ride and try it again. If the cruise kicks on, you need a new cable, about $35 I think. You can continue to use the cruise without the wires connected, but you won't have the safety of disengaging the system with the throttle.

Argyle, when the salesman was talking to me about this bike, he said "but it has 35k on it." I told him my 07 Heritage has 35k on it. BTW: someone should seriously warn people about the radio on these bikes. Bon Jovi comes on and the next thing I know, 90 mph. Gotta get the cruise fixed quick.
