Default HD "Sidekick" seat don't fit!!??!?

I ordered a HD Sidekick seat for my 08 Road Glide(51526-09). Nice seat, nice leather, nice fit, except for the gas tank. There is about a one inch gap between the front of the seat and the console. Looks real crappy. The seat just seems too short. Called the HD dealer I ordered it from. They think it was built wrong and ordered another one so we shall see.
I think maby since it is advertised as a "custom" seat it is designed for a custom tank/console. But then again I would think they would tell you that in the cataloge.

Anyway, anyone else with a 08 or 09 bike and a Sidekick seat? How does it fit?

Thanks for your time,

Doug

Not sure if the Side Kick is the same as the Brawler but there is a set screw on the under side. It allowed me to move the seat back and fourth a couple of inches.

From like 99? to 07 there were two tank console lengths (and thus two seat lenghts). RK's and SG's had the longer console and thus a shorter the front tip of the seat. EG's, RG's, and ultras had the shorter consoles and the longer seat fronts. As mentioned above, there was a leather spacer that could be used to cover the gap when a short seat was used on a bike with a short console.

But I thought that starting in 08-present that all the consoles and seat fronts were the same length for all the touring bikes.

Doesn't answer your question as to why yours doesn't fit, but a mistaken (older) seat with the wrong part number might explain the gap.

btw: I had a Sidekick on my 07 Ultra for awhile and it was a very tight fit that snugged all the way up to exactly flush with the tank console.

+1

I had the exact same problem with my Brawler seat.

I'm an idiot!! MassHD was correct. There are set screws that hold the chrome tab onto the back bottom of the seat. You can loosen these and move the bracket about 3/4 of an inch. Gap is now gone but I had to move the seat up 3/4 of an inch. Dealer confirmed with another seat.
Its not the best way to do it but it works.

Thanks all,

Doug
