Well I sucked out some trans fluid to bring the level down. Still not sure about how long after shut down I should check. Obviously, the longer you wait, the more trans fluid will show on the dip stick. Now to see if the leak goes away, which 'might' indicate my leak was from overfill.

PS. Transfluid tastes terrible, just turble, turble, turble..........
