Default Issues with V&H duals and brake lever

Hello all

I'm looking into adding V&H dual headers to compliment my ovals, but the dealer says I wont be able to install because of my extended reach billet brake lever. They said it wont fit, and if I want the headers, i would have to get rid of the brake lever and go back to stock.

IS this true?

I would not think there would be a problem. I had an extended reach on mine with the duals.

Yep. I have extended reach + true duals = no problems on my '06 Street Glide.

What year and model do you have?

I have an 07 RK. It sounded wierd to me when they told me it wouldn't fit, and they would have to bang the pipe in a bit to get it to clear the brake lever.

I will take a stab here and guess that your shop installs the V&H ovals by whacking on them to get them onto the header. This moves the front header forwards and into the brake lever. How do I know? Because I did the same thing and the header hit the brake lever. How did I fix it? By pulling the header rearwards and then tightening down the mounts when the header cleared the lever

Dont exactly know how they do it beacuse I'm new in this area (NC) and looking for a decent dealer. But according to what you just said, thats probably what they might do. Sorry to hear you had issues with yours, but its good to know you were able to get it fixed.

I have V & H headers and V & H dual ovals. The 'extended brake lever' will hit the pipes when letting off the brake. The dealer didn't tell me when they installed the V & H set-up. When I changed to the 'billet extended brake pedal' I discovered the problem. The dealer ground off part of the original brake pedal. So, I ground off what was needed to let the 'billet extended brake pedal' rest unactivated without hitting the V & H pipes. I then had the 'billet extended brake pedal' re-chromed.

Yes, it can be done, even after MY stupidity of banging the slip-ons back on with a hammer and 2x4
