Sheepskin seat cover?

Sheepskin seat cover?
I rolled up to my buddies house to meet him for out Daytona trip. It looked like he had killed a sheep, and threw it over his seat. Genius had bought a sheepskin off of ebay, and hacked it out to fit his seat. Of course, I gave him much grief about it. A few hundred miles into the trip, all he could do was the sing the praises of his mutton hide seat, however tacky it may have looked. For all I know it could suck, and he'd still swear by it, just because I cracked on it so bad. Anyone out there have one? Does it really make that much difference? I'd hate to have to go and buy one, and catch hell from my buddy, but the ole Corbin Hollywood solo needs something more. I know the first post is gonna be, "get a better seat". It ain't happening. I like my Corbin, and I'm not going to change it, but I would like to know if the sheepskin would help out on the 500+ mile days.

I can see how it can make your rump last longer on the seat. Now, does it make you sit higher/taller? I'm always worry about the skin slipping off, getting wet, fall on an exhaust pipe. How does it look after 10,000 miles? Is it washable? I never had one, so I thought I'd ask the questions.

You wont think there so tacky after sitting on one for 1200 miles in a day in 90+ heat. Lamb hyde is the way to go for the long haul. It does keep the porcupines away and keeps the boys alot cooler.

I bought mine from Alaska Leather http://www.alaskaleather.com/index.html They are custom cut to fit your seat and they are held in place by a strap that you place under your seat and then clip into mating catches sewn onto the sheep skin so they are removable. I have 2, one for my seat and one for the pasesenger seat. I have the stock seat that came with my 06 EG Classic. I love mine and so does the missus. They don't slide around, they give you a good grip and as far as making you sit up higher I would say it is barely noticable and they are washable. Tacky? Well tacky is in the eye of the beholder.

It depends how long the wool is on the hyde, I sit up maybe an inch higher with it. It's wool it wont burn on the pipes. I have no straps its a full hyde and tucks around the saddle nicely and stays put. If its raining I can quickly tug it off and pack it away in the tour-pak. I have rolled it up in a heavy duty garbage bag and bungeed it too. Getting it wet isnt too big a deal either. sheep stuff This is where I got my hyde, natural black I paid 135.00 but you get what you pay for.
