Default Anyone have bad experience with lowering kit?

I purchased a 09 Ultra and need to lower it. I have already modified the seat. HD is suggesting the lowering kit, which will lower it 3/4", but a lowering kit will lower it 1". I ride two-up the majority of the time. I weight 140 and my wife weights 120. Any problems out there with these kits? I was looking at a Road 6 Customs off of eBay.
Thanks
TR

Put a 1" lowering kit on my old RKC and the rear tire would strike the fender when riding over medium sized bumps. With the wife on back, it happened a lot. Took it off after about a month. I weigh 200lbs, she weighs 125lbs. It's worth giving it a try, you can always take it off.

Cool

none yet out of TJ products 1 in. kit. Wow, 140lbs? really? I'm 165 and I need a little more in da seat of my pants to help move it when it's not running.

If you go the ebay lowering kit, just make sure that if the bike does bottom out, the rear wiring harness inside the rear fender will not have the tire rubbing on it. I had that problem on my 07 Ultra and it was very expensive to correct the damage.

07 Roadking.. used the 1" lowering blocks found advertised everywhere. Me 195 lbs, girlfriend 135lbs. Bottomed out with tire-to-fender contact repeatedly on highway "dips", despite the shocks being pumped up to 50lbs.

At 70mph, it was downright dangerous.

I pulled those off as soon as I got home, and bought the "profile-low" rear touring shocks.

Problem resolved. At least if those bottom out, it will be contained safely inside the shock, and not against a critical part.. like my rear tire!

So far, even fully loaded, with me, girlfriend, clothes, leathers, tent, and sleeping bags, it hasn't "bottomed out" once, with over 5000 miles of highway, and off-highway travel. I run them at 45-50 lbs air.

Thanks to all that have responded. I think I'll just keep with the low profile shocks.

I purchased these shocks for my Road King:

I hate to admit it, but with my wife we have a combined weight of about 450lbs. I run 40-50PSI and the shock will only occasionaly bottom out on major potholes/bumps, but never tire to fender rubbing. I'm not sure they would fit an 09, I don't know what they changed in the suspension.
