Review for Firstgear Thermogear Suit
#11
I have that FirstGear riding suit also. It is warm down to about 32, and then maybe a light sweatshirt would do the rest. For the money, it does as well as heated gear might, except gloves are also needed and a baclava. Around here we have maybe two-three months where I might use the suit, but on longer rides, it is great!

For gloves, Fox Creek Deer skin insulated are good down into the 20s for rides up to 35-40 miles. Colder than that and I use Hippo Hands, which I love.
I don't wear any extra headgear.

The FG stuff is excellent. The Tourmaster stuff is pretty good too, at least one of the jackets I have. But, if you got the bucks, sooner or later there is no replacement for electricity like with the Gerbings or Widder. (HD sells the Gerbing stuff).
The electrics make it a Spring Day. You're not just not cold, you're warm.
It's expensive, but if you think about it, I add a solid 6 weeks of riding (at least) in total comfort, onto the front and back of each season. I've had all the gear, gloves/jacket/pants/socks and controller since 2001. Do the math and it comes out to less than a dollar a day of comfortable early Spring and late Fall/early Winter riding.
