Default 10.1 compression in a Bagger

Those with 10.1 compression, any problems with that ratio? Pulling the trigger on a build this weekend and just need to make up my mind with 9:5.1 or 10.1, mostly over pump gas concerns and reliability. It's a 95" w/Headwork. Will it make that much difference in seat of the pants, being half a point?

Cheers,
BCC

All depends on what the cam likes that you are going to use.

Make sure all the components of the build compliment each other........everything has to work together to give you the best results.

I am running 10.5:1 compression with MCR SE Heads and Woods TW-7 Cams. When the bike is hot I need to hit the release. Other than that, no problems

Depends on cams, the tune and where you ride and how much **** you take with your on a trip. I have a HQ touring build their 0039 cams at 10.1 and I don't have any problems. The only time I ran into any issue was when I was forced to put 87 octain in when I couldn't find anything else, the bike pinged a touch with me and the OL and 85 deg outside temp going up hills.

I am fixing to put in 9.5:1 and already have Andrews 37 cams 510 lift in. I am hoping this will give me a little more power. I am not looking for that screaming machine. I just want the torque to pull hills while cruising the hills.

One of my bikes is 10:1 and I don't like it as much as the 9:5. Might have been a cam choice, not sure yet.

I'm at 10:1 and I couldn't be any happier...............the Woods TW-6G loves it. I have compression releases, and I use them all the time just to be safe (and they sound cool when starting).

All the components of the build have to work together, no matter what the CR, and you'll be very happy.

No problem with that compression or even higher as long as you have the right cams and the right tuning.
