OK. I just bought the KW 8" black ten days ago and since then, I've taken a couple 300 mile day rides and have been riding dialy commute with it. I love the look and also really like the wind pattern it gives me. I do get plenty of wind, but it is a "clean" wind. Very little sideways or vertical buffetting until you get above 90mph.

What is killing me with this shield on long day rides is the NOISE. It's horrible. So bad, I am turning off my radio because its no use. Today, I even had to resort to ear plugs for the highway. It's much worse than my stock, my Clearview Recurve Sport, or my
8" El-Cheepo Chopped.

FWIW...I am 5' 8.5" tall, am riding with the stock seat and have the rear end lowered 1".

With your KW 12", how is the NOISE??????

I am 5'8", Mustang seat, stock ride height. Wearing a 1/2 helmet, the wind noise isn't bad up to about 70. above 70, I need earplugs. Without a helmet the wind noise is not nearly so bad. Traveling back from daytona last week, we averaged 80mph for about 800 miles up I95... I wore earplugs the whole way and didn't listen to my stereo. We rode the BRP to get to Daytona, averaged about 60mph on the BRP I had the tunes blasting and no earplugs...

I had a Klock Werks 12" on my RG and didn't like it. Wind buffeting was terrible and at 75 I could barely hear my radio. Switched to Clark's Custom Windshield ( www.customflhtwindshields.net ) and really love it. They mount a little more vertical than stock and hence push with wind above my head and I'm 5'7". A great improvement at a very reasonable price.

Im 6' 3" and use the Clearview +2 with vent. I love the windshield and I can see over it easily. The only wind I feel is the small amout that comes from the underside of the fairing, but that is to be expected

Default 12" Klockworks Shield for RGs

I bought a used one after riding with a Clearview shield. I couldn't wait to take it off the bike. The Klockworks shield is thinner and vibrates constantly. Not even in the same league as the Clearview

All form over function. Don't waste your money.

I'm 6' tall at best and yet the stock winsdhield is at least 1" too short, if not 2". I want to replace it, buy may wait to see what Kuryakyn does come out with this winter. I can live with the stock unit til then as it isn't that bad. Does anyone know if dark tinted windshields are legal or illegal in NJ? I mean, you're supposed to look over it, not through it anyway. I like the look of the dark tints and Clarks had a nice one that I also like:

Click on the Road Glide pic at the top of page:

I can see some "officer of the law" hastling me over a tinted windshield....
