Road Glide vs Electra Glide

RE: Road Glide vs Electra Glide
Ok...here are my 2 cents. I have an Ultra Classic as I like the batwing fairing and not the frame mounted fairing of the RG. It looks too much like a jetski for me. I like the fact that for 19995, you can get the Ultra and have all of the extra's from the factory. The air ride front and rear make the ride awesome. You will get better wind protection from the EG and buying lowers makes no sense when they are standard on the Ultra. I would go with the Ultra as it comes with everything from the factory.
Good luck in your search and ride on.

Scott,
What year is your Ultra?
It is my understanding that the 05's do not have front air shocks. I know my 05 Classic doesn't have that option.
I am with you on the solid vs. batwing fairing. I like my headlight to turn when the handle bars do. I also like the look better, however, those RoadGlide Screamin' Eagles were awesome.
Regards,
Bill

I also had this arguement with myself. I love both bikes but I had to go with the FLHTCI because I do'nt need the lowers in Tx and I do'nt need a cb and I will add the cruse later.Eather way you will be happy I'm sure.I'm not sure about the cams but I am sure about one thing.........Your Fatboy is awsome.

No experience on the Ultra, but love my 05 RG. I don't use a CB, I like the detachable chopped tourpac, have leather lowers because of the ease of removing, it came with cruise. I can say I rode it in 50+ gusting winds for about 200 miles and although it was right turn the whole way, it was STABLE.
You mentioned a lot of mods coming and this will make a sweet RG. All I can say is the RG is unique in looks and sweet in ride and handling.

This is correct. No more air ride front forks since 2002. That's why you can by the front fork lowering kit from Harley Davidson for 2002 and above.

I have an Ultra and it is great. However for long trips nothing beats the frame mounted fairing. It handles so well. Now if you are wanted to do all of those mods then I would go with the SE Elecra glide just for the fact that you will have a 103. Those bikes are super nice and fast as hell. For wind thought my vote is the road glide.

RE: Road Glide vs Electra Glide
Craig,
I used the progressive kit. 1 1/4" to 2" lowering. I went with 1 1/4 and it looks and rides great. Much better on cornering (no nosedive). I also lowered my rear shocks 1 1/4" with no bottoming out at all. I can ride by myself with no pressure and I run 10-15 lbs with my wife on it. I will post some pictures soon. Getting it re dyno'd Tuesday.
