Lowering a new Street Glide
#21
I have a 08 SG and have lowered the rear another 1" with use of lowering blocks - ebay item. I am 175#, 6', lowered it for looks. Rides great handles great. I air up the shocks at 30# with just me on the bike. Me and the wife 45#, never and I mean never does it bottom two up at 45#...that includes all the junk she packs in the bags for the ride. We just returned from TN from a week of riding...they have smooth roads, but all the twisties from the dragon, and the parkway, no complaints with handling. The 09'SG I sat on at the dealer feels like it has a lift kit on the thing, WTF?...I dont know if a wider seat as posted above has anything to do with this or not, this I do know...the 09's are taller and a 08 with 1" lowering blocks works.

Okay...you weigh 170? You should have about 10 PSI in your shocks per the owners manual. Dropping the pressure would lower the bike a bit...proabbly as much as your 1" lowering block, and the shock would actually be working on the correct angle instead of the compromised angle it works on with a lowering block.
