Default Your Thoughts on Winter storage

Hi all, was looking for your thoughts.
Last winter I drove my bike right into my basement via my back door and a ramp. I did this because I did ALOT of work on it over the winter. Well this winter I really dont have much to do at all. Right outside that door I brought it in is a fully covered patio where the bike would stay completely dry.
What are the negatives to having the bike out in the freezing cold for the winter vs having in a nice warm(semi warm) basement. If I can save the space in my basement for the winter that would be great but my bikes well being is more important to me.

Let me know what you guys think

Thanks

Harpoon

I'd try to keep it inside if I was you. I would think that all the heating and cooling of the weather might cause condensation, and that might lead to some surface rusting on the chrome.

And thank God I live in Georgia, where I can ride year round.

What he said. If you can keep it inside you gotta do it. Otherwise be prepared to find all kinds of rust and corrosion in the spring.

I used to keep my other bikes in a shed for the winter.. I just added fuel stabilizer and covered the ends of the mufflers with baggies held on by rubber bands and sprayed the chrome and aluminum stuff with spray silicone.. no problems. Oh ya i also removed the battery and stored it in my garage on a tender . Used to put down some mouse poison too

You guys are just full of the jokes aren't ya. But what I am hearing is that the best scenerio is to bring it inside which kinda blows but is doable.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

oh and if I keep it inside where it wouldn't get below 55ish on the coldest night do I still need to fill the tank and add the stabilizer or just add the stabalizer in the half a tank I have in there now?
