Default Question about fueling up

Alright, so I'm a little **** about getting fuel on my bike and was just wondering..........

When you guys fuel up, do you just set the pump and let it fill all by itself? I've never tried it because I think it's going to keep fueling once it's full. I stand there holding the little plastic hose thing up so I can see how much fuel is in there and I stop it myself. If I let it go, will it stop automatically?

With the 08 and later you gotta be real careful. I hold the nozzle a little bit higher and pump real slow because it's a pain in the butt to fuel the new 6 gallong tanks. I would never set it and let it fill, besides it would click off long before it filled up. Sometimes I get a pump that sucks and is hard on the trigger pull and it is still a pain, but other times I get a good pump with an easy trigger pull......it's kinda like comparing a variable speed drill to a standard drill with some of these pumps.

I start off by burying the nozzle and letting it shut off automatically, about 3.5-4 gallons. Then I pull out the nozzle and top off. I never fill up with the bike upright (sitting on it). Times that I did do it, buds decided that this is a good time to take a break. Lean it over on the jiffy stand and a few minutes later there's a puddle of gas under the scoot. Now I always fill up with the scoot on the jiffy stand. This leaves plenty of expansion room.

I never put it on auto , I just barely put the nozzle in and run it until I cant put anymore in while on the jiffy ..

If I'm doing a long trip , I'll center it up and put all it'll hold in there ..

You don't have to be to **** about your paint. Harleys clear is so hard paint stripper hardly makes a dent in it.
I fill mine slowly and by hand.

Set the clip on the handle to do what exactly? You would barely have enough time to retie your doo rag, adjust the buckle on your belt, or maybe wipe some bug guts off your face? It takes all of 1 minute to fill an empty tank (if that) ... I won't even let a gas attendant do it for fear of spilling gas all over my tank or scatching my paint ... I wouldn't even consider setting the pump handle for fear of it filling up so fast that when it gets close to full it would splash out ... cause it can do that pretty quick.

I stick that nozzle in half way and let it click off, then pull it back up to the top and run it real slow until I can see the gas at the top. Never spill a drop on my bike.

Of course we don't have them stupid rubber things all over the pump nozzles in Oregon.
