Amsoil is a multi level marketing system, just like AMWAY, SHACKLEE, PAMPERED CHEF, MARY KAYE, JAFRA. While I have no doubt that their oil is good it IS overpriced and I don't believe for a second that it OUT PERFORMS Mobil 1 or any other major manufacturers petroleum products. I haven't seen one F1, CART, IRL, NASCAR Team using this product because its "better" My very large two cents.

I tend to agree with the above poster. Why? because I requested some information about Amsoil and received more literature then I would ever consider reading through. End result? I probably will not read through any of it. When someone requests some info and receives a large manilla envelope crammed full of reading material (tesrtimonials etc) I tend to think it is a well marketed product but likely not superior as claimed. I'll switch to Synth-etic but will likly go with Mobil 1 V-Twin. off the shelf, available locally thank you.

20w/50 is for the motor oil and is a good weight for the primary with the wet clutch. Always good to change the primary every other motor oil change. The transmission should get a 75/90 gear oil, synthetic is the best and it should be changed with ever other motor oil change.
I personally use Amsoil for my bike.I got to California and had Bartels HD change it for me, I rode 4500 miles back from California of a 8k mile ride in 3 week, I had a oil analysis on the motor oil and transmission and found after all that hard riding the oil stood the up to the test. The transmission and primary wasnt changed until I got home here in South Carolina
As for torque specs , if your wanting to to do all your own wrenching best thing is to go a local Harley Dealer and get yourself the service manual and I would recommend the parts manual for your specific bike and its model year. They both are very useful.

I'm certainly not a marketers dream and usually I'm a generic shopper. I just want to do the best thing with this rather large investment. I'm about as confused now as when I started ..with all the different opinions.
Amsoil was my attempt at bargain shopping till I saw that the price was very similar to syn 3. If it does what is says (less engine scar), then it would be worth it. Somewhere in the middle of it all is the answer.
I'm reading every word so keep it coming riders...

Yes, AMSOIL sells in mutli-levels, is that bad? No, it's just different(but not that much than buying from a store )
I used to be a solid Mobil 1 man, it was in every internal combustion engine I owned. Then I won a contest for a shopping spree at a local speed shop and I was due for an oil change for my bike and they had AMSOIL, so I got it figuring I would use it once and change back to M1. Before changing the oil, I took cylinder head temp readings with an infra-red thermometer and wrote those temps on my workbench pad. I then ran the AMSOIL for the same amount of time, but had 700 more miles on it than the M1 did. On a hotter day, riding the bike for a longer time that day I took the cylinder head temps. The front cylinder was 16 degrees cooler, and the rear was 23 degrees cooler. Me, being a pessamist, didn;t believe the readings. So, I changed back to M1, rode it for 1000 miles, and changed again back to AMSOIL and ran that for 1000. Same results. That was about 10 years ago, I became an AMSOIL dealer about 8 years ago because I was using it and guys were buying it from me anyway. I do this test all the time as I do work out of my garage on bikes. So I let the customer see the same test with their own ride. AMSOIL has ALWAYS come back with a cooler engine temp. I have tried M1 once every couple years and do the same and the results is always the same.
