Default Can you put '00 - '06 exhaust on an '07-'08 RG if you remove O2 Sensors?

I have an '08 RG and will probably put a thunder header and power commander on it. Was thinking about putting an 00-06 exhuast on it since I won't need O2 sensors.

Anyone do this?

I don't think you can do it. I'd look at the maker of the pipes and see if they have different part numbers for the years. I'm fairly certain they do....

I think the p/n are different, because 07-08 have O2 sensor bungs welded in place. But if I am not using the O2 Sensors, I think an 00-06 one will work. Just hoping someone could verify.

Ofcourse they have different part numbers. One has an 02 bung and the others do not. The 88 and the 96 have the same jug so yes the old pipes will fit. Im running the same set up on mine. I have the PCiii so the sensor was unplugged anyhow. Have fun choosing which one to go with.

Some earliers system work, some will not. The main difference is clearance for the 6 speed trans. I recommend contacting the manufacturer before installing an earlier system. You should not have a problem with a 2 into 1.

Default Yup...

I concur with Jamie.....the diff is the pipe/tranny mount back above the starter.
For what it's worth, I had a set of newer V&H True Duals installed on my '05 (to get the O2 bungs...I was piggybacking an HQ ProTuner onto a PC III) and had to get a different mount from V&H. Turns out it had to be modified to work at all, so we decided the trick next time around would be to buy the correct pipes and ADD the bung(s). Easy for using the HQ ProTuner 'cause it only needs the REAR bung.

My advice? Buy the right pipes for your '08 (with the bungs) and piggyback on a HQ PT, or the like. Some will want the 2nd bung, others only the rear. Or just buy the right pipes, plug both bungs, and add an auto tuner when it suits you.

I put a set of 06 true duals on my 08. The mounting on top of the starter is different and where it comes down the primary but i made it work. The mounting on the right side did fit but the mounting bracket was different for a 06 compared to 08 (factory 6 speed). Im sure you will have the same problem as i did but it is possible to do. I used a torch and a ball pin hammer to help me out.

Hope that helps so your not blinded like i was going into the project.

I'd suggest a TTS tuning system instead of the PC. Then you'll have use for the O2 sensors. It really works better than a PC and is well worth the extra investment.
