Default Rush vs Monster Ovals

My 08 UC is the first Harley I've owned or ridden. When we bought it in July I knew we were getting a touring bike. The wife wanted a Harley because we never had one before. I'm a former Goldwinger from when Wings were just another jap bike with a windshield and hondaline saddlebags.

I am trying to figure out what exhaust tone I want. I have kicked around monster ovals, rush and fatcats. I dont want anything to loud (remember wings just whoosh) but want the UC to have a hint of the Harleyish sound without covering up the radio, giving me a headache or cause the intercom to break VOX.

What do you all think

I just put a down payment on an 09 Ultra. It won't be in until Nov 21 so I have been trying to decide also what pipes. I'm leaning toward the Monster Ovals. They look awesome! If you go to youtube and type in Monster Ovals there are two videos and you can hear what they sound like. I've also looked at the Rush, which are also nicer. I personally believe the Monster Ovals would be your choice. They are not to loud, but they have a nice rumble.

First of all, welcome to the Harley family. We seem to have a lot of ex-wingers here .

You will get many different opinions on this issue, but I had pretty much the same criteria as you do. Here is a link to what worked for me:

http://www.fuelmotousa.com/jackpot.htm.

You can do a search and find many responses to this age old question. There was recently a post with video from someone running the new monster ovals. The above website has sound clips as well.

Good luck, and enjoy that new UC

I'm happy with my Rush 1.75" slip ons. Loud enough, but I can still hear the stereo at any speed.

Nice scoot.....
I went with the Rush 2.0" slip-ons and haven't
regretted it....they seem to sound better as the
miles roll up.....music is still clear and can easily
talk with wife on back, when she's not napping.

LOL @ "which pipes?". Next make sure to ask about synthetic oil, warrantee-voiding, power commanders, and blond-vs-redhead.

Enjoy the new ride.

I have the Rush 2.50" and have been very happy with them. But I did hear the Monster Ovals at Biketoberfest and really liked the sound and the look.
