Looking at a 05 black cherry electraglide standard with efi, spoke wheels, security, and cruise control. 18000 miles. $12500 sound in the ball park?

 

i sold my 06 flht with true duals wire wheels stereo and mustang seat plus more for 13500. wasnt looking to make trhe most i could just fair value

Tough call but probably pretty fair. One could argue this deal either way so it's not a bad one IMO. A new 09 would cost you about $18K with just cruise, $5,500 more. The spokes and security could be added later if you want those options.
On the other hand you'd gain 4 model years for future resale, have 0 miles and a 2 year warranty, 96" engine with it's improvements, 6 speed, and the new 09 frame changes.

I had an 03 electraglide...sold it to pay for an adoption of my son....got the 07 street bob...love the 96 and the six speed tranny....would be hard to give that back for the 05....but in these times Im trying to think about money savings...if I get it...I'll keep it for quite awhile I imagine. thanks for the imput
