Default Standard Headset for Ultra

Not sure if anyone else has this problem....but I have had the headset replaced twice in less than a year...if you turn the volume up over half way the speakers on the headset crackle...

Similar experience. Ear plugs help. J&M vendor says HD headsets are made by Chatterbox. I have a J&M headset in a full coverage helmet but haven't had much chance to test this aspect.

I went to Target and got a headphone set called "Skull Candy". I then pried apart the stock headset speakers and then soldered on the wire to the Skull Candy headset speakers. I wound up taking off the padding around the headphones so it wouldn't rest against my ears, depends on how your noggin is put together. They fit nicely inside my 3/4 HD helmet.

It is freakin' loud now.. I typically don't go above 4 bars in sound on the radio because it is too loud. My wife's voice is crisp and clear and not tinny at all like the headset that came with the bike. The speakers are rated at 400mW input maximum, and I'm sure the stock HD headset speakers are probably only 100 if not less.

I'd also suggest these which I've ordered.

If you don't see the link choose the Y-cable adapter for HD. If I like wearing earplugs I'm gonna fork over the cash on the $99 Bose earplugs for me and the wife.
